After nearly 10 months of construction, the Vietnam Exhibition Center has established itself as one of the top 10 largest exhibition complexes in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia, ready to host the Socio-Economic Achievements Exhibition in celebration of the 80th National Day of Vietnam.
On the afternoon of June 27, the Vietnam Exhibition Fair Center JSC – a member of Vingroup – officially handed over the Vietnam Exhibition Center site to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh said this project serves a highly significant event within the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
"This is not only a project of technical, aesthetic, and spatial value, but also a cultural work of exceptional importance, worthy of regional and global scale. It stands as a symbol of innovation, development, and the aspiration to rise in the new era," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
He further stated that the Socio-Economic Achievements Exhibition, under the theme "80 Years of the Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness", is an event with deep political, historical, and humanitarian significance.
"This is a comprehensive opportunity to look back on the country’s 80-year development journey across fields such as economy, culture, society, science and technology, national defense and security, foreign relations, and international integration. It is a place that reflects the solidarity, creativity, and development aspirations of the entire Vietnamese nation under the leadership of the Party," he said.
Highlighting that this is a large, difficult, and unprecedented task with a short timeline and high expectations, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, as the standing agency, continue to lead and finalize the proposal for the exhibition. He also called for the development of a detailed implementation plan and task assignments.
Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung praised Vingroup’s efforts in delivering a large-scale project ranked among the world's top 10 in terms of area and scale.
He said that after the handover, the Ministry would closely coordinate with the consulting unit to review creative concepts, connect spatial designs, and identify key highlights. He also proposed that the Deputy Prime Minister allow a meeting to be held in Hanoi with 34 provincial Chairpersons and Directors of the Departments of Culture and Finance to assign specific implementation responsibilities.
Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, also shared that once completed, the Vietnam Exhibition Center will become a destination for global events, an international conference center, and a venue for art festivals and cultural exchange. From here, a new era of the modern exhibition industry will begin, following successful models in many countries worldwide, helping to transform soft power into economic strength and enhancing the position of Hanoi and Vietnam on the regional and global stage.
The project covers a total area of 900,000 square meters and began construction at the end of August 2024. After nearly 10 months, the two most important components have been handed over: the Kim Quy Exhibition Hall and the Outdoor Exhibition Area.
The Kim Quy Exhibition Hall spans nearly 105,000 square meters, stands over 56 meters tall, and is divided into nine grand halls. Each hall is integrated with support facilities such as coffee counters, restaurants, and functional rooms to meet all the needs of exhibitors and visitors.
The outdoor exhibition area covers over 200,000 square meters, suitable for large-scale events, exhibitions, cultural and tourism festivals, as well as simultaneous activities.
